Corey Katz is a self-taught photographer from New Waterford, Nova Scotia. Over the years he’s established himself as one of the province’s most diverse young talents, as comfortable on a commercial shoot as he is capturing fine art landscapes or that special wedding moment.

Recipient of the Sydney & Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2013, Corey is a founding member of the Coastal Arts Initiative, an award-winning group of young and emerging artists from Cape Breton that has exhibited approximately 500 pieces of art by 50 young artists since 2007.

He has emerged from that experience to distinguish himself with his artistic vision as well as his entrepreneurial spirit. Corey was one of only twenty-four visual artists from across the province to have work purchased by the Nova Scotia Art Bank in 2010. Corey’s work has been displayed at exhibitions across Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton University, the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, and the Nocturne Arts Festival. He has worked as an Official Photographer for Celtic Colours International Festival for three years and is a Professional Craft Producer with the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design. In 2015, Corey was a recipient of an Honorary Alumni Award from Cape Breton University, as well as a Vital Cape Breton Excellence Award from the Cape Breton Partnership.

A recognized talent among his peers and clients alike, Corey has had his work published in regional, national and international newspapers and magazines and used in various promotional campaigns.
